90 minutes; Near future, sci-fi, mystery
It was easier to breathe on Mars.
Second generation Mars colonist Eleanor is spending her first summer on Earth. Eleanor who was born off-planet is charged with a biology that may hold the key to future life thriving on Mars, something her ill fellow colonists who didn't make the journey home know they don't possess.
Desperately wanting to connect with the people around her, Eleanor, who speaks with a brain-to-speaker device and has developed a fear of dying since her arrival, is confronted with mysteries surrounding the exploitation of her Mars-friendly biology and a brewing disdain for a disenfranchised utopia-searching sect that has gained support in the community.
So when Eleanor finds two severed human toes in her mailbox she is reluctant though still compelled to find out who in their town was involved and what the gruesome message means.
Film inspiration: The Man Who Fell to Earth and Blue Velvet.
Watch the micro-short THEM that inspired THE GIRL WHO FELL TO EARTH.
- Invited to second round of the 2017 Sundance/Sloan Commissioning Grant & Fellowship.
- 2018 Women In Film - LA Mini Upfronts semi-finalist
- 2018 Official Selection in the Global Script Challenge at the 9th Edition of Oaxaca FilmFest
